Sunday, January 28th

Event Summary

On 28th January, 7.30pm, 2018 we are staging a Variety Show at Lancaster Grand Theatre. All money raised from ticket sales and the raffle will be distributed to local groups working with people suffering with mental health issues in the Bay Radio area.

Price: £10 adult, £7.50 child,

The variety show’s aim is  to raise funds for the groups which support people alongside the NHS,  support local medics who are reimagining the treatment of mental health involving patient experts and, on top of this, also to raise awareness of the fact that mental health issues can affect absolutely anyone at any time. We need to lose the stigma associated with mental health and take on board the fact that lawyers, doctors, GPs, teachers, celebrities and anyone we come into contact with are equally susceptible. It's not something that should bring judgement on the sufferer and is an illness which deserves treatment without bias, just the same as any physical condition.

The following amazing acts have given their time and trouble at no cost in order to support mental health awareness and groups, some have agreed to perform as they themselves, or friends and relatives, have experienced many of the issues addressed by the various teams in our area.
Danny Matthews from The Bay Radio - Holly Lovelady from Kendal - David Kay from South Cumbria - Greenheart a Lancaster Band - Steff Todd a comedian - Mazza Vee a multi talented artist and poet from Liverpool - Voce singing 'Popular Music with a Classical Twist' - Sheelagh Houlihan a performance poet with a wild comedic side - and Jennifer's Dancers from Carnforth.

A group of patients and local GP's, NHS staff/students and representatives from local support groups and choirs will perform I Love My Life, a Robbie Williams song, which has a powerful message of getting through the difficult times with the support of others and looking forward to a time when life is more enjoyable. If you are a patient, former patient, NHS staff or from a local group and you would like to join them please email socialease@yahoo.com being good is not a requirement it's all about being together. Directed by Anni Tracy from More Music Morecambe.

The programme will contain details and contacts for local support groups as well as key messages from the NHS for people as a directory of help. If you are involved in a mental health support group or not for counselling organisation and you would like to be included in the programme and potentially benefit from the show proceeds, please contact socialease@yahoo.com. They will need a logo and 3/4 lines of text including contact details.
