CASTLE
One of the oldest buildings in South Lakeland could be converted into a hotel if plans are approved.
Wray Castle at Ambleside hasn't been used for several years, and now an architect down in Birmingham has submitted plans on behalf of a company in Shropshire to the Lake District National Park Authority.
They want to turn the building into a luxury hotel and spa, with log cabins and landscaping in the grounds.
TAXI CHANGES
There's going to be changes to the amount taxis can charge in South Lakeland.
From the middle of March, Hackney Carriage drivers can only charge a maximum of £3 for a journey of a mile or less.
Every tenth of a mile will then cost 20p, with a 50% surcharge for nighttime journeys.
SLDC say anybody with an objection to the new tariff should write to them before the 18th of February.
