Barrow's RNLI crew was called out this afternoon (Saturday) after several people had become stranded on Foulney Island due to the rising tide.
Crew members spotted the group walking on the island this afternoon (Saturday) while the tide was rising.
Realising they were in danger of being cut off, some of the party had decided to wade through the water back to Roa Island.
To ensure their safety though, the crew decided to launch the inshore lifeboat to help them get back.
Three people were picked up from the shore of Foulney Island, while the rest said they were happy to remain on the island until the high tide had passed and it was safe to walk back.
