The Community Foundation for Lancashire has launched its Flood Recovery Fund appeal.
It's to raise money to help cover clean-up costs, emergency repairs, clothing, food and drink, heating and heating equipment, childcare equipment and basic furniture.
Serving North Lancashire's residents, it will directly support struggling individuals and families affected by Storm Desmond.
Community Foundation for Lancashire has started the Appeal by making a £5,000 donation from its own Lancashire Community Investment Fund.
Local people and businesses can donate to the Recovery Fund’s Public Appeal online via a dedicated MyDonate webpage here.
Community Foundation for Lancashire Chief Executive Cathy Elliott said: “It is still too soon to know how much damage has been caused by Storm Desmond, though we wanted to launch the Recovery Fund to provide whatever support we can. As the county’s Community Foundation we aim to raise funds to provide vital support for individuals and families and their communities who are affected at this time.”
Community Foundation for Lancashire’s President Lord Shuttleworth said: “Lancashire has always been a generous place and we hope local people and businesses will give however much they can afford. There is a great need for fellow Lancastrians to help each other right now and I hope they will do their bit to support those in desperate need.”
