Kendal's first ever Santa Dash charity event is being held today (Sunday), for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
Money raised will be spent on vital equipment, research and training that can't be funded by the NHS.
The charity's marking its 20th anniversary this year with three new projects which bosses say will "future proof cancer services for many years to come".
The one mile Santa Dash - or stroll, will take place from 11am.
Spokeswoman Tammy Hoskins said: "We have made it a dash/stroll as we didn’t want people to be put off from taking part by having the word dash on its own in case it suggested to people that they have to run as fast as possible when in fact, they can go at their own pace.
"We would however like people to dress in festive costume if possible to add to the atmosphere. It needn’t be full costume – just a Santa hat would do!"

There is a £5 entry fee for adults but accompanied children under 12 can take part for free.
