Kendal Man Arrested For Making False Bomb Claim

A Kendal man has been arrested under the Communications Act of 2003, on suspicion of making a false bomb claim on Facebook.

The 46 year old was arrested on suspicion of ‘causing to be sent by public communication network a false message’, in relation to an alleged Facebook post that claimed a bomb was in a the boot of a car in Kendal.

A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: “In the present climate of heightened terrorist activity we would like to take this chance to remind the public that comments such as this not only cause anxiety and distress to some members of the public but may lead to arrest and prosecution.”

No further details have been released.
