Last Rescue Of 2017 'Straightforward' Thanks To Walker's Preparation

The Kendal Mountain Rescue Team says its final call-out of 2017 was "straightforward", after the injured party was found to have been prepared for the conditions - which has been something of a rarity in recent months.

Since the start of the winter season, teams from across the Lake District have been frequently reporting that too many call-outs are made as a result of walkers being ill-prepared for the season's conditions.

In this case - on Sunday afternoon, a walker had suffered a lower leg injury after a fall while trekking on Wray Crag at Kentmere.

A team spokesperson said: "Team vehicles were able to get close to the site via Stile end.

"The casualty was treated and stretchered down to the team’s Landrover, then was transported to an awaiting NWAS land ambulance.

"The two walkers had all the right equipment and this made locating them a straightforward task for us.

"Happy New Year and stay safe."
