Barrow Raiders have captured the signatures of Dan and Shane Toal for next season.
The brothers agreed terms before highly-rated winger Shane headed off to join up with the Scotland party for the World Cup which takes place in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea and starts on October 26th.
Shane was a stand out player for Barrow last season with his 24 tries – which included two against Whitehaven in their 10-6 League One play-off final win - helping his side to promotion to the Championship.
Pack player Dan, who touched down on five occasions, also made a huge contribution, proving to be a valuable asset in coach Paul Crarey’s squad.
Barrow director of rugby Dave Robinson is delighted the two have come on board as preparations for a concerted effort in the Championship continue at Craven Park.
“I am delighted both Shane and Dan Toal have signed for another year, it helps keep the continuity of the team going forward,” he said.
“Dan is a warrior and always brings something different to the pack, while Shane, in my and Paul’s opinion, is a future Super League player if he continues to show the same improvement and commitment, as he has done over the past season.
“It was a pleasure doing business with the brothers.”
Their deals come swiftly on the back of signing Aussie Alec Sussino, an Italian international, who like Shane, is ready to play his part in the upcoming World Cup.
“We are building a team to stay up, and laying solid foundations for the future,” added Robinson.
“Everything is looking positive.”
