Barrow's BID team is looking to bring a touch of festive cheer across all sectors in the town centre by encouraging businesses to enter its Best Dressed Window Competition.
Usually centred around the retail sector, the BID is hoping that non-retail businesses will make an extra special effort this year and join in the Christmas spirit by dressing their windows too.
The competition opens on Friday (December 1st) and will run for two weeks, closing on Thursday 14th. During this time, members of the public will be asked to vote for a first, second and third place in each of four categories: national retailer; independent retailer; food & drink; and non-retail.
Details of how people can vote will be posted on the BID’s website here before the end of November so that voting can begin.
The winners in each category will be presented with an engraved trophy, with the second and third placed businesses in each category receiving a framed certificate to display. The winners will be announced on Saturday 16th December, with the prizes being presented by The Mayor of Barrow in a special ‘roving’ ceremony on the 16th.
BID Manager, Phil Collier, said: “This is a great opportunity for both local and national businesses to add a bit of good old Christmas cheer by brightening up the town centre.
"All we have to do now is to engage with the businesses to encourage them to get involved. To this end, we will be contacting as many as we can directly but let’s throw out a general ‘call to action’ via the local media.”
