Businesses Report Use Of More Fake Irish £50 Notes In Windermere

Fake £50 notes are doing the rounds in the Windermere and Bowness area again - for the sixth time in just over a year.

Cumbria Police are asking shop staff to take the time to check that notes aren't counterfeit.

The suspect, reported to have been using the notes in Bowness shops is described as white with an Irish accent, around 5'7", 17/18 years old, wearing a grey tracksuit, white trainers and a baseball cap.

PCSO Laura Jackson said: "Please can I ask that you be careful when accepting fifty pound notes and if in any doubt just apologise and don't accept it.

"If you see this male or you think he has been in your shop, please call Cumbria Police on 101."
