Lancaster’s market square will be bustling with local food producers, music and local craftspeople next month, as LESS hosts Lancaster’s second Midwinter Market.
It's one of four seasonal markets coordinated by LESS that aim to celebrate the surrounding environment and the diversity of produce the different seasons bring - while at the same time, to celebrate the darkest time of year.
The market - on Friday the 15th of December, is being held between 10am and 5pm,
Anna Clayton, food project officer at LESS commented: “Lancaster’s Midwinter Market is a great opportunity to meet local food producers and to find out about the sorts of food and woodland products that are available locally.
"A number of exciting community projects are also attending that present new ways of doing things - from offering food on a pay-as- you feel basis to growing veg in a community setting.
"I hope for everyone that attends the market to learn at least one new skill or fact.”
Confirmed Midwinter Market stalls include:
- The Fig Tree who will be talking about and selling its range of locally-made and fairly traded bean-to- bar chocolates.
- Owen Jones will be selling and demonstrating how to make oak swill baskets.
- Filberts Bakery will be offering their range of delicious baked goods.
- Cockerham Boers will be talking about and selling locally-reared goat meat
- The Coppice Coop from Silverdale will be demonstrating green wood techniques and selling green-woodland crafts made from locally-sourced wood.
- Claver Hill food project will be sharing info about their ‘no-dig’ veg, and selling local-food themed calendars, locally made chutneys and jams.
- Billy’s Eggs from the Lancaster Charter market will be joining us, offering a range of local and free-range eggs.
- Morecambe’s Creative Exchange will be selling their upcycled and locally crafted
- Bizar Baker will take you on a culinary journey around the world with her cakes
- Backsbottom Farm will be selling preserves and woodland crafts
- My Puds and Simply Country and Co will be selling local cheeses and puddings
made from local ingredients.
- Firebird Catering will be cooking up wood-fired pizzas with a seasonal twist.
- Logs Direct will be taking orders for fire wood
- Old School brewery will be offering tasters of their beers and will be selling various
- Bee Inspired Flowers will be make festive reefs made from locally grown plants and
