The Hare & Hounds Inn at Levens has been short listed for Food & Drink Pub of the Year.
The 16th century coaching inn in the Lyth Valley is one of five category finalists in the annual Cumbria Life Food and Drink Awards celebrating the county’s vibrant food and drinks culture.
The full forty-six finalists, ranging from restaurants and dining pubs to cafes, chefs and food start-ups were selected from reader nominations in conjunction with judge visits, reviews and industry accolades and winners will be revealed on Thursday 22 March.
The Hare & Hounds has already picked up a clutch of local awards since owners Ash and Becky Dewer took over in 2013.
Becky said: “The Hare & Hounds is the kind of place where you can tuck in to a proper crispy Italian-style pizza in your wellies, with your dog snoozing under the table.
"Our aim has always been to offer top quality, locally sourced food and excellent drinks in a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere and we’re proud to have made it as finalists in the awards.”
The seventh annual Cumbria Life Food & Drink Awards will be held at Kendal College on Thursday 22 March 2018, hosted by food critic and industry personality Jay Rayner.
