A new managing director has been appointed at BAE Systems in Barrow.
Cliff Robson has been appointed as Managing Director, in the position vacated by previous managing director Will Blamey.
Mr Blamey has left the company to pursue other interests.
Mr Robson is set to officially start in his new role on Monday, January 8th.
Furness MP John Woodcock was told the news by John Hudson, former managing director at BAE Systems Maritime.
Mr Woodcock said: “This is obviously concerning news which will inevitably place a spotlight on difficulties the company is having in delivering the Astute programme on time and to budget.
"I wish Will Blamey well and welcome Cliff Robson, who I will be seeking to meet soon to discuss the challenges the shipyard faces.
“People will inevitably have questions in the light of Mr Blamey’s departure, but it is important we all understand that Barrow’s future remains secure. Our community is delivering Astute and Dreadnought on behalf of the nation with jobs guaranteed into the 2030s.”
