One of the region’s largest gatherings of local business people is being held in Barrow next month - and is open to anyone with an interest in the local business world.
The Federation of Small Businesses Regional Dinner at Barrow's Abbey House Hotel on Friday 24th November begins at 7pm where guests will be greeted with a free drinks reception before heading into the Cavendish Suite for a three-course meal.
The event is not restricted to FSB members.
An FSB spokesperson said: "We have been fortunate to secure one of the best after-business-dinner speakers in the country, Barry Leahey MBE.
"Barry, who is the Managing Director of local business Playdale, was awarded an MBE earlier this year for his work encouraging small businesses, both locally and nationally, in respect of exporting their goods and services.
"During Export Week in 2016 he was asked as one of a very select few to join UKTI’s Managing Director and the Minister for Small Business for a breakfast discussion and then to assist in the opening of the markets at the London Stock Exchange.
"He has travelled extensively both on behalf of Playdale and UKTI. With Brexit negotiations with the EU on-going, having Barry as our speaker is particularly relevant and we look forward to receiving the benefit of his advice and hearing of his extensive experience in the business world.
"And to round off a great evening, we have managed to obtain international singing star, Gemma Louise Doyle. Despite experiencing a life-threatening illness that occupied most of her teenage years, in the relatively short time since, Gemma has carved out a niche career performing her unique style of classical-pop crossover to audiences across the globe. It is fabulous to have her at Abbey House Hotel to perform for us.
"With the bar open until midnight, we have managed to secure a special room rate of £60.00 for those wanting to enjoy a few drinks and stay over.
"All of the above provides excellent value at just £30.00 per ticket. Alternatively, your business or business group can take a table of 10 for the discounted price of £250.00."
