The owner of Lancaster's Marketgate Shopping Centre says it's no surprise that Primark's annual profits nationally have surged.
The chain's sales were up 19% year-on-year, rising from 5.95 billion pounds to 7.05 billion - largely due to growth at the clothing outlet.
Primark opened their long-awaited Lancaster store in August last year - and the company's owner - Associated British Foods - says there's room for even further 'significant' growth as the chain continues to expand.
Chris Beckerman from Roubaix Group, the owners of Marketgate where Primark opened last year, said: “We’re not at all surprised to see Primark reporting strong sales.
"The response to Primark opening at Marketgate last summer has been extremely positive with excellent feedback from shoppers and a real injection of energy into the shopping centre.
"Primark is trading well because it’s giving customers exactly what they want.
"We’re delighted with the response since Primark opened at Marketgate and looking forward to seeing them do well again in 2018 and seeing Marketgate continue to strengthen as the premier shopping location in Lancaster.”
